Neighborly Waterly Fight

My dear neighbor, Susan's, grandkids were visiting also this week and all our girls hit it off together. Susan is a big beanie baby collector and invited Lauren and Sydney over to see her collection as well as offer them several minature ones to take home. They loved that. Later, Lauren came up with the idea to challenge them to a water fight outside one night and they accepted the challenge! What an exciting time we had! Creative Lauren also decided "Team Lolli" would wear masks (Lolli included) and the girls made them out of my old scrap material. And since we had leftover cake icing, the girls thought it would be even better to smear them with the icing (outside of course) at the end of the water fight.
There were so many squeals and laughing galore outside this night. Mercy! what fun they had together and I saw some mighty competitive little spirits come out of the girls too! The icing smearing was too funny and hosing them off was the best part of all!

At the end the girls did get Susan and I kind of wet (we made them promise not to get us while we had our cameras). Concluding the evening on the deck with eatting one of our animal cakes we made with the all the girls was a perfect ending to our "animal day".

Animal Day Cooking

Of course on our "Animal Day" we had to make an animal cake. This cookbook for children is as old as I am. We used it in the Williams family kitchen many times.
The girls very much enjoyed painting the animal crackers with "egg yolk paint", making different colors with food coloring, )sort of like dying easter eggs), and then we dipped a few animals in some chocolate too.

Sydney and "Constantine" liked each other.


Lauren, like her brother, wanted to bring "Bucky" home with us!

Lauren now has something in common with Chad! Yep, "Spirit" bucked her off too! Yikes! She too was ok and hopped back on but with a little more hesitation than her cousin. I think this family is done riding "Spirit".



"Dolly" llama says to Lolli as she smiles," tell those cute girls to come back over here and play with me" :)


"Opie" the donkey gets a little attention with Pops. They are a lot alike sometimes!!!... Just kidding...not really :)

No better way to finish a trip to the farm than having a lollipop on the way home!

Hairlarious Fun with the girls

"Hair Night" was our first night together with the girls and it proved to be a hairlarious fun time!

It started out kind of typical with the older cousin(12 years) styling the younger one (9 years) first.
Lauren is one creative girl. She came up with putting an empty Dr. Pepper bottle (they had just finished) on top of Sydney's hair to make her look like Sydney Loo Hoo (from The Grinch That Stole Christmas)!

Then it was Sydney's turn to style Lauren. We never named her but it was great fun for the girls to style each other.


Then they went to town on my hair. I think they must have had 20 tiny ponytails all over my head!

I make no apologies for looking like a tired hag with a hairlarious hairdo. I had to transition this day from having the boys to the girls with no break imbetween and fed their dads and cousins lunch too. There was no time for make up and I am sure glad I did not spend any time styling my own hair that day:)

Final day for the boys = Farm Day

So here are the favorite pics of the boys at the farm. It was the most touching moment of my week when Corey said to me after removing his blindfold and seeing all the animals at first glimpse, "this is better than Six Flags!" He had just been to Six Flags with his friends the day before he came to our house. He told us he rode every single ride there. I have a lump in my throat when I think about the fact that a 10 year old would consider a day on a farm with grandparents is better than a day at Six Flags with his friends. Yeah, I know I am sappy sentimental, and times like this make it so worth it all!

Chad and "Dolly" llama made fast friends with each other. "Dolly" let Chad hold a cookie and gently took it right from his mouth without touching Chad's body at all. Don't worry you moms reading this, the farm owner showed him how to do it!


The baby goat feeding was absolutely everyone's favorite. Please note the baby bottle up close too :) (an Auburn baby bottle). He was just too cute and followed us around everywhere, even under the horses while riding.


"Bucky" was his name but really the horse that Chad rode should have been called that! So with that said you've probably guessed what happened. Chad's horse (actually it was a big pony) named "Spirit" bucked him off once but not without a challenge. Chad held on like a rodeo champ til he could hold no more hanging off from the saddle side! He fell about 2 feet from the side of the saddle to the ground and the owner was right there to rescue him from any further danger. Chad got up and immediately got right back on. Yea!
Meanwhile Lolli is on the fence having an " overly concerned grandmother fit". And no pictures were taken of this due to the surprise of it all. Looking back on it now, I think Chad kind of jerked the horse to a frustration point but really and truly the boys thought it (falling off) was the coolest thing that happened that day:) Chad could not hardly wait to tell the family about it but we made him promise to keep it secret til after the girls had their turn here.



Corey really liked "Stormy" the smallest pony they had. "Stormy" was born in April during a storm:)
