Our 1st Annual Family Variety Show at the Luau

All these reality shows and talent shows on TV sparked the idea in me to try our own Family Variety Show this year. There is no way to convey to you in these few pictures of how much fun each family had performing for our 1st annual Family Variety Show during the Luau! We do have them all on video for future laughs!
Greg, Kimberly, Lauren, and Corey started out with a somber reading from Walt Whitman but after a cute drama scene they zipped off their jackets and became.....
The Wiggles!!! the dancing was a hoot but all 4 were in sync and the audience was howling! The Wiggles kept us hysterically entertained. Zoom in to see their shirts!
Jeff and his family put on a very comical scene from The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Chad stole the show with his "ding dong" sounds as the Hunchback rung the cardboard bell!

Penny & Alex wore blonde wigs adding to the drama while Harrison and Sydney assisted with ringing the bell as Chad continued to say "ding dong"!
Scott, Dawn, Brendan, and Beckett sang a great rendition of "This Land Is Your Land". 5 year old Brendan stole the show here with his perfect harmonica playing of the song! Dawn beautifully sang solo of which their family got the bravest award!
The Murés and The Lawsons performed a 2 bits, 4 bits Luau Cheer! Yes, Annie on top of the pyramid stole the show during their performance and her forward roll at the end was kind of funny too.
To conclude the day, Lolli and Pops sang an original version of "The Goodship LOLLIPOP"! We had great fun making the ship weeks before the party and our nightlight that blinked and changed colors on the tip of the ship was just as much appreciated as when each grandchild saw their picture as a porthole on a plastic lollipop! (click on the picture to see each one and zoom in and see Jack's hat = it was a gift from Greg years ago and it says USS Downes)
Every grandchild's name was used in the song that rhymed (of course)as Lolli and Pops sang to the family! It was touching as we were singing our verses to see each one point to their own picture and the little ones even ran up to touch their own!

What a variety of talent we had at The Luau! Without question everyone decided we should do a show again next year and I overheard some of them saying they already knew what they were going to do for next year! Big smiles are on my face and in my heart...I couldn't be more pleased that it produced so much fun for all!!!
